okay. hi guys. for those that don't know me, i'm lindsay. i'm a micro-managing, bossy, whiny 22-year-old bitch from chicago, i work in designer fashion sales and merchandising, and you'd be surprised to know that i'm actually too socially anxious to be mean and snarky in person. so you all get to endure me letting it all out here. sorry not sorry in advance.
(side note, for those who bothered with my intro video: yes, i really do like all seven saw movies. i wrote my undergrad thesis on them. and yes, i'm really afraid of tubas. imagine falling into one and it trying to eat you, a la the pants in that episode of jimmy neutron. NOW tell me you're not terrified of them too.)
also, major shout-out to JW, anie, and hodges for looking past my delirious, vicodin-infused interview and actually giving me a shot at playing. for the record, i'd just had surgery, i'm not usually high on vicodin. usually. i don't even remember what i said to them, to be frank, but i'm guessing i probably just continually insulted them. (oops.)
anyways, onto the actual game that's being played right now or something. so we're put in tribes on friday. i immediately realize that i know NOBODY very well at all. and yet, i know at least four people decently over on hosvik. thanks, hosts. thanks a bunch for that. you didn't have to give me stephen or brandon, who are very close friends of mine. but corey? kevin? come on. i do know johnny poteet a tiny bit- he interviewed for "the genius: icons", the series i host, and he was someone we really liked but didn't have room for in such a small cast. that said, i was not aware he wears a brown snuggie 24-7. dunno what that is. it could at least be, like, leopard print, or blue, or pink, or something that isn't brown. come on, johnny.
i also minimally know (more like know OF) eric brodin. dude was an asshat to a few of my good friends during a game he played, completely disrespecting production and the entire cast in what he did, and then as far as i know disappeared off the face of the earth until now. he knew he knew my name when we talked. but he thought we played pro, not endure, together (we played endure, he voted for me the round i went out), and doesn't seem to want to nor be able to retain ANY information about anything other than the game itself. dude's basically a robot. i'm waiting for him to call me "regan" or "mike" one of these days just because he doesn't seem to care who anyone is, just that they're playing a good game.
one of the first people to chat me up outside of the group was patrick. the first three impressions he gave off? flirtatious, shirtless, and loud. so, uh, that was fun. in truth, he's a nice guy, and definitely is someone to watch in the game- he was one of the few people who was in a position of power during the first clusterfuck of a challenge, and he elected himself to that position and then complained that nobody was helping him. everyone sorta went with it, as far as i'm aware, but he's someone i'll want to play behind as a shield for as long as i can before i go against him. i don't think he'll be able to control himself and his need to overplay for long- he's already admitted in a public tribe call that he wants regan out first. note that regan was IN THE CALL when he did this. pfft.
mike is as nice as patrick, but not as loud or bossy. (funny that i'm complaining about him being loud and bossy- those two words describe me pretty well, also. oops. i said in my interview i dislike people who remind me too much of me. here's the proof.) so i really like mike a lot. he's sort of unofficially mentioned that he thinks we vibe well and should look out for one another, which i'm definitely on board with. it's probably a little early for official alliances, so this is something kinda in the middle that i like. i know someone at least says they have my back, and mike seems like one of the least likely to lie thus far.
john coffey's another really nice kid. i swear, he's permanently smiling and warmly greeting EVERYONE on call and in the chat- he's so sweet. i like that a lot- right now. i think in maybe a week, i'll be tired of it and wanna see him put a game face on. he seems so far like someone who might start to cry if they think they're being voted out.
joshua and kyle are the two i've talked to the least so far- not because they're not around, but because they happen to be gone for the hour or two each day that i'm not multitasking and actually trying to communicate. literally coincidence. they're both nice, and i like them both. didn't realize joshua was so young! he does NOT look his age. kyle's chill, and we talked a bunch about nyc, since i went to art school there for two years.
and then we have regan. oh, poor regan. i'd feel horrible for her if she wasn't so frustrating. she's sweet, and i give her a tiny bit of credit for trying. but, like, if the first thing you say to your tribe after being absent for two days is that you're excited to see your tumblr survivor cohost on the other tribe, you need to go ASAP. i don't blame patrick for wanting her out, even if publicly announcing it is the dumbest shit move i've seen since erik reichenbach's micronesia boot. she's also whining a lot, complaining that she doesn't know what's going on (sweetie, you were gone a while, catch yourself the fuck up), and then PMs people whining more that she feels ignored. i'm sympathizing, because hearing patrick say what he did is pretty hurtful, but, like. she's gonna be first boot. she better be our first boot. i'll be fucking pissed if she isn't- she realized during the challenge that people weren't really giving her things to post or things to do, and that was because she was useless at all of it.
about that challenge. why nobody took the reins sooner is beyond me. why nobody thought that having one person edit EVERY SINGLE IMAGE that we needed for EVERY SINGLE ONE OF OUR POSTS was a bad idea is so beyond me. poor patrick was so overwhelmed, nobody was using the google doc that we (okay, that i) made for organization, and everyone was panicking over hosvik's 9 consecutive bomb moves instead of actually trying to overcome it. they finally got their shit together while i was hosting my game, and we won in under two hours. thank god. it was the strategy we needed, but it really shoulda happened sooner. i told them to PM me if they needed me- nope, they just kept trying to get me to check the vagar chat, which i couldn't really do while hosting. i had to turn specific word-based notifications on for my name so that i'd see everything. i'm glad we won, but i'm still pretty shocked it happened. if every challenge is going to be that disorganized and chaotic, i'm so done. i'll just colorcode everything myself and NOT share my google docs. HA.
glad to see, though, that one of my hosvik loves isn't gone. i'd really like to see stephen, brandon, corey, and kevin make a swap or merge. feji would be good, too- i haven't played with her, but i know people adore her for a reason. i don't often play to my pre-game friendships, and i'm not saying here that i will. corey can be a good, sneaky player, as can kevin and brandon. (stephen is literally made of cotton candy and unicorn magic and could never hurt a fly, and i love him for that, but that also could work against me in a game.) so it could be good/bad, but hey, it'd be nice to talk to people who actually have things to talk about. we need conversation starters for our tribe chat or something- i'm so sick of "work sucked" and "wow coffee and tea are good".
i promised the snark. i hope i sorta delivered. now i'm gonna go sleep. you're all angels for actually reading this to the end.
